The effects of Vitamin D supplementation on statin adherence
A large population-based placebo controlled randomized trial to evaluate the effects of monthly vitamin D (100 000 IU) supplementation on cardiovascular disease and other health outcomes. Adherence and persistence to statin usage was measured. The authors concluded that vitamin D supplementation could increase compliance and persistence to statins, especially for simvastatin users; additional long-term studies are needed to confirm these preliminary findings.
