Date and walnut porridge

Porridge is a fantastic filling breakfast and surprisingly quick to prepare even when you start with the real thing - rolled oats! This date and walnut version is made with a helping of oat bran (but you can replace this weight for weight with oats if you prefer) - a great healthy, tasty combo, especially good if you are watching your cholesterol!
560ml (1 pint) 1% milk or non-organic soya milk
80g rolled oats
20g oat bran
6 dates, chopped
6 walnuts, chopped
1 tablespoon honey
Warm the milk, oats and oat bran in a non-stick saucepan.
Add the dates as the mixture comes to the boil, then turn the heat down and simmer until thickened.
Serve garnished with chopped walnuts and a swirl of honey.
